1.Poor Dispersion of Color Masterbatch or Inadequate Plasticization

The issue can be addressed as follows:

Slightly increase the temperature of the area near the feed hopper during debugging.

Apply a certain amount of pressure to the mixing chamber of the injection molding machine.

If the problem persists after adjustment, it may stem from incompatibility affecting dispersion, or issues related to the color masterbatch and base resin. Refer this to the manufacturing department for resolution.

 

2.Why Do Products Exhibit Different Color Depth Even with the Same Color Masterbatch, Resin Formula and Injection Molding Machine?

This is often caused by the injection molding machine itself. Machines used for production may differ in mechanical conditions due to variations in service time or maintenance status—especially discrepancies in the heating efficiency of the barrel. This results in inconsistent dispersion of the color masterbatch inside the barrel, which leads to the aforementioned phenomenon.

 

3.Color Appears Too Dark (or Too Light) Despite Following the Masterbatch Dosage Instructions

While this problem seems straightforward, it can arise from a number of factors:

Insufficient rigorous testing of the pigments in the color masterbatch, leading to inconsistent concentration.

Inaccurate metering during use, a common issue particularly among domestic small and medium-sized enterprises that rely on random measurement.

Incompatibility between the color masterbatch and resin, which may be caused by improper selection of the masterbatch carrier or a change in resin grade by the manufacturer.

Abnormal machine temperature, especially on the high-pressure side, which causes the color masterbatch to stay inside the machine for an extended period and undergo over-plasticization.

Troubleshooting Procedures: First, verify the compatibility between the color masterbatch and the resin grade, and ensure accurate metering. Then adjust the machine temperature and operating speed accordingly.

 

4.Why Does the Color Change When Switching to a Different Brand of Resin with the Same Color Masterbatch Formula?

Resins from different brands vary in density and melt flow index (MFI), which leads to differences in resin properties and compatibility with the color masterbatch, thereby causing color variations. Generally speaking, if the differences in density and MFI are minimal, the resulting color deviation will be insignificant, and you can adjust the dosage of the color masterbatch to correct the color.
